Impress Holdings, Inc., an Impress Group company providing IT, music, design, nature and mountaineering contents and services, has launched a premiere issue of Second Life magazine. Second Life is an Internet-based virtual world in which users can interact with each other through motional avatars. Impress, which launched an Impress island in the Second Life world, aims to promote the possibility of the virtual world as a new media platform. The magazine is produced by Hatake, a member of the Sharam-Q band, who actively participates in the Second Life world. The first issue covers interviews with Second Life âresidents,â describes how to become an SIM (land within Second Life) owner, and comes with a Second Life world map 2008 calendar. As part of the launch campaign, the first 440 readers will each receive 500 Linden Dollars (the currency in Second Life). Impress is also releasing Second Life-related books such as the Perfect Design Guide and the Avatar Making Book this month.
